Lindsay Lohan - Drunk Again

Lindsay Lohan reached a plea deal Thursday (August 23) on misdemeanor DUI and drug charges that will find her spending one day in jail, serving 10 dayof community service and completing a drug-treatment program, according to The AssociatedP ress. She will not stand trial.

Through her lawyer, Lohan pleaded no contest to two counts of driving under the influence, two counts of being under the influence of a controlled substance (cocaine), and reckless driving.

I for one feel she should have the book thrown at her, but maybe that's because I'm a believer that celebrities should be examples.

Music Industry Claims 12.5 BILLION dollars is lost due to piracy eavery year

Give me a break, Ars Technica has the whole story, here is just the highlight:

A new study from the Institute for Policy Innovation takes a different approach to quantifying the cost of music piracy. Instead of just focusing on what the lost sales cost the record labels, the new study measures the impact of piracy on the US economy. The total price tag? A cool $12.5 billion in lost output, if you trust the study's numbers.

I've read the whole article, and I agree with most of the conclusings: The study is flawed, the numbers don't add up, the music industry is on it's heels and is trying to blame poor pirates like me.

Hey, Newsflash: I never bought CD's when I was younger, I only started downloading recently, and I still don't buy CDs. If I didn't have a computer full of pirated songs I would most likely be listening to the radio.

Oh wait, I still do listen to the radio :D

My conclusion: The numbers are BS.

Loreena McKennitt Presale Password (But wait, tickets are already on sale?)

Ok, so this is a new one for me. Nokia's Ticket Rush is listing a presale for Loreena McKennitt's show at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium on October 14th. Nothing extrordinary so far, but when I check Ticketmaster for that event, I can see that tickets are ALREADY ON SALE to the public!

So this brings up an interesting, question: Why have a pre-sale for a show that is already on sale?

Answer: To bolster poor ticket sales.

Pulling public seats from ticketmaster for this show yields exactly the results that I was expecting:
SEC 2, Row C, Seats 6 - 4
PRICE LEVEL 1
GOLD CIRCLE
LEFT SIDE
SEATS ARE 1-20 ROWS FROM STAGE

Those are pretty good, all things considered :D

Anyways, if you wanted it, the pre-sale password is INDIE, but don't wait for the presale to get tickets, just buy em now!
