Ok, so this is a new one for me. Nokia's Ticket Rush is listing a presale for Loreena McKennitt's show at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium on October 14th. Nothing extrordinary so far, but when I check Ticketmaster for that event, I can see that tickets are ALREADY ON SALE to the public!

So this brings up an interesting, question: Why have a pre-sale for a show that is already on sale?

Answer: To bolster poor ticket sales.

Pulling public seats from ticketmaster for this show yields exactly the results that I was expecting:

10:26 am - Back from Tims, the Spectator had a headline on Brian Melo from Hamilton. I guess he is doing very well for himself in the Canadian Idol competition. As a resident of Steeltown, I have to say that I am quite proud of Brian Melo's achievements on the show so far and I wish him the best of luck in the last push towards becoming the Canadian Idol.
10:35 am - Bored, need to post to Blogger.... Discovered that Sitemeter thinks my last visiter was at 9AM... Adsense stats are behind and show NO impressions for today... That's wrong :D

Old News: The Cleveland Cavaliers filed a federal lawsuit against Ticketmaster

The Cleveland Cavaliers filed a federal lawsuit against Ticketmaster Inc. on Monday, accusing the broker of acting as a monopoly.

This should be good.

Assiciated press can be thanked for bringing this to my attention.

The Cavaliers allege in the lawsuit that Ticketmaster is trying to prevent the team's Flash Seats secondary-ticketing Web site from competing with the ticketing giant.

Flash Seats provides season ticket holders a way to sell and transfer seats electronically, a system that is superior to Ticketmaster's TeamExchange program, the lawsuit says.

''Ticketmaster is using its market power to exclude competition and inhibit innovation,'' said Sam Gerace, chief executive officer of Flash Seats. ''I can only conclude they're threatened by Flash Seats.''

Nokia's Livenation Ticket Rush site goes offline - For a little while

So I was surfing through Nokia's Partnership Site with Livenation - The Nokia Ticket Rush website (www.ticketrush.com) and all of a sudden, things locked up and I was faced with an error of.. significant size.

The site was DOWN. I mean down for the count! It's amazing to see a major entertainment portal go offline.. and interestingly enough, it also exposed an interesting message. (See below images)

The outage started at 12:12AM EST on Wednesday August 22nd, 2007 and as of this posting, the site is still offline.

I really hope that this is due to some scheduled maintenance, I really like TicketRush as a source of presale password information. It is super easy to get mobile alerts of concerts and pre-sale alerts, and a great place for Nokia to get some exposure to their newer phones.

The plot thickens... Over at livenation at 12:16am a message indicates that the site is offline for server maintenance. Perhaps this is scheduled, and perhaps not, but regardless, It is just after midnight where I am, but still only 9PM on the west-coast. I can almost see the dollar-wheel rolling on what this is costing in terms of potential lost subscribers to their respective concert mailing lists... I'm imagining a run-away telephone with hundreds of dollars appearing on a scrolling board every few seconds... well it is my imagination after all :D

12:52AM - Sites are both still offline... I'm calling it a night anyways, gotta be up early tomorrow - It's time to finish enrolling in College! Whoooooot!

Pre-sale passwords, presale passwords, what are they and where do they come from?

Anyone who buys tickets on ticketmaster knows that there are tons of presales now that require passwords. These passwords come from many different sources. Local radio stations send out presale password information to people on their email list, venues send out alerts to previous customers, and ticketmaster sends out alerts as well for artists and venues.

Presale Passwords can be difficult to find and locate. I'm going to start posting tons of presale password information for all of the shows I have because I am sick and tired of people sending me emails at home asking for the pre-sale password for this event, or that concert.

Please use the search box at the top of this page to search for a presale password. If the password does not come up, it may be that I do not have it yet ;)

Common presale passwords:

House of blues - The pre-sale password for House of blues concert promotions is almost always HOB. I don't even bother looking for the pre-sale password for a HOB show, I try HOB and so far have gotten tickets to EVERY show.

Ticket Deals Network/Ticket Deals - The presale password or the discount code in many cases for these ticketmaster pre-sales is simply TMDEAL, LIVE or DAILY. Ticketmaster has a deals page where you can sign up to get alerts when discounted tickets become available, and sometimes (rarely) you can get access to presale tickets for concerts and theater.

The Wiggles Presale - The wiggles, a kids group that tours around the country, has presales for most of their shows. The wiggles presale password is usually WAGS, but I have also seen FUN and WIGGLES used as the pre sale password as well.
